We often hear, "times they are a-changing", or "change is good", or "nothing stays the same." For sixty years neighbors near and far have come to 8434 Germantown Avenue for all their sewing needs. I was proud to be part of that tradition. However, that is about to change. I am retiring and FABRICS ON THE HILL is closing.
     The sewing industry has been suffering for a while. Customers find their discretionary money redirected to basic living expenses. Other customers have chosen to visit the big box stores sacrificing quality and expertise, thinking this is a way to save money. And, still other customers have gone to the Internet to shop. Without these customers, FABRICS ON THE HILL cannot survive.
     I have been very fortunate to have had your friendships over these years. Many of you have worked with my husband, Paul, my daughter, Katie, and my son-in-law, Stephen. I couldn't have done all of this without them. To you, my customers, I say a big thank you. To my family I also say thank you and I love you. Lastly, thank you to my amazing staff who always kept things together. Cathy, Jeanne, Sue, Patty, Sharon, Sarah, Phyllis, Laurel and Storm- love and luck. You are a major part of my life.
     Starting Tuesday, October 18th, FABRICS ON THE HILL will operate from 11a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The store will be closed Sundays and Mondays. All merchandise will be 50% off. Samples and furniture and fixtures will also be for sale.
